The comparisons, as far as I am aware, have, until now, barely been noted. Yet there is quite a lot the prime minister of my country (Julia Gillard) has in common with Barack Obama.
Most readers to this blog are Americans, so I won't bother going over all that you know about Obama. All the flaws, shortcomings and the questionable past. Instead I'll devote this blog to listing flaws and criticisms of Julia Gillard. You will see how eerily similar they are to those of your President.
1. Gillard has a socialist past that she denies or down plays. She has been quite opaque, and at times outright mendacious about her past.
As you can see from the link, the documents contradict Gillard's nothing-to-see-here cries of innocence.
Then there's the outrageous spending
Throw in a bit of racial division and stirring up of racial tension
Screaming "misogynist" at those who scrutinise or oppose her. Just as Obama supporters screamed "racist at those who hoped he would be a one-termer.
Of course there are the more humourous comparisons. Just as Obama is a deer in the headlights without his autocue, Gillard has less impact without her beloved speech writer John McTernan.
Oh, and Gillard, just like Obama, has a deputy who has a habit of being not too bright or simply putting his foot in his mouth
