Race Wars in Australia.

A teenage boy has been killed in an apparent deliberate hit and run in the Brisbane suburb of Woodridge

A couple of things that disturb me - not least of which is the tragic death of a young man - but also an unsettling vibe of simmering racial tension that has found it's way into the suburbs of our capital cities.

Said one of the witnesses to the hit and run, which occured after a fight between rival party goers, "It was Bloods and Crips."

Another party goer said it was "the start of a war."

The two groups were made up of Pacific Islanders, and Africans.

Obvious question #1. Who are we letting into this country.

Obvious question #2. Since when have Pacific Islanders and Africans had animosity towards each other.

Is there some unknown war going on between Tonga and Sudan?

Why on God's great Earth would these two groups be fighting each other?

Could it be that these two particular demographics: young Africans, young Islanders, just happen to be two of the most bellicose ethnic groups.

And what of the Bloods and Crips references? How many of these kids were born in, or grow up in L.A? They would have been barely a foetuses at the height of gang rivalry in California. Most of them, in the age group 17 to 19, were not even born when racial tensions in L.A. culminated in the riots of 1991, after the Rodney King incident.

So why? Why? Are teenage Australians channeling African American gangs?

Why are we letting into this peaceful country the kind of people and cultures who will fight not just with neighbouring nations, but with neighbouring streets.

Australia for many years prided itself on being free of America's problem of racial enclaves and racial tension. The last decade has seen our cultural innocence eroded. Perhaps it's time for a moratorium on African and Pacific immigration.
